We were contacted by the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office and were told that sandbags should be available at the closest city office.
SANDBAGGING HELP IS NEEDED!
City of Brandon Councilman Brett Bastian asked me to share below:
Good morning Brandon residents and Happy Wednesday. As the melting water rapidly approaches, there is an anticipation that flooding will occur along the Splitrock and Big Sioux River waterway in the next couple of days, possibly peaking by Sunday.
Our community needs your help get the word out about opportunities to give back and help out our neighbors.
The city of Brandon is looking for volunteers today to help sandbag at 1701 Redwood Blvd beginning today at 1PM. Please see the City of Brandon’s facebook page for more details.
The Brandon Valley Ice cats also needs help this evening beginning around 5Pm at the iceplex across the street from McHardy park.
By coming together and continuing random acts of kindness, we can continue a behavioral response of compassion, action, giving, and selflessness which will strengthen our sense of community, belonging, and feeling good about ourselves and our community.
Please join me and the others as we continue to become #BrandonStrong.
